Shockwave
Therapy

A non-invasive option for stubborn tendon pain, delivered by a Doctor of Physical Therapy in Coral Gables.

RX MOVEMENT · Coral Gables

For pain that
won't quit.

Some pain just won't go away: heel pain that has lasted for months, an elbow that flares every time you play, or a tendon that never fully settles. Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive option for these stubborn tendon problems, with no needles, injections, or downtime.

Shockwave sends acoustic pressure waves into the painful tissue through a handheld device placed on the skin. At RX MOVEMENT it is never a stand-alone fix. We use it to reduce pain so you can progress the strength work that actually rebuilds the tendon.

For self-pay patients, shockwave is included in your physical therapy visit with no add-on fee. It's delivered by the same physical therapist you see at every visit.

Common Questions

Shockwave Therapy FAQs

Does shockwave therapy hurt?+

It can be uncomfortable over the sore spot. We adjust the intensity so it stays tolerable, and most people feel only mild soreness afterward.

How many shockwave sessions will I need?+

It varies by condition. Many plans involve several sessions spaced about a week apart. You'll get a clear plan after your evaluation.

Is shockwave included in my visit?+

For self-pay patients, yes. Shockwave is included in your physical therapy visit with no add-on fee.

Is shockwave right for me?+

It's best suited to long-standing tendon pain. It isn't used in some situations, such as pregnancy or certain medical conditions, so your evaluation always comes first.

Will I see the same therapist every visit?+

Yes. You'll see the same physical therapist at every visit, from your evaluation to your last session. You won't be switched between therapists or handed off partway through your care.

Do I need a referral for shockwave therapy?+

No. Florida law allows you to see a physical therapist directly, without a physician referral, for the first 30 days of care.
