Asked

Everything you need to know before your first visit — from how we bill to what to wear in the treatment room.

Getting Started

Do I need a referral?+

In Florida, you can see a physical therapist without a physician referral for the first 30 days under direct access. Some payers require a referral for billing purposes — we'll clarify your specific situation before your first appointment.

What should I expect at my first visit?+

Your initial evaluation is a comprehensive 60-minute session covering your history, a full movement assessment, diagnosis, and personalized treatment plan. Most patients begin hands-on treatment at that first visit — you won't just be answering questions.

How quickly can I get an appointment?+

We offer same-week appointments in most cases. Call us at (305) 778-0453 or submit the contact form and we'll confirm the same business day. We keep our schedule intentionally manageable so you're never waiting weeks to be seen.

What should I wear and bring?+

Wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows access to the area being treated — shorts for knee or hip issues, loose or sleeveless top for shoulder or neck. Bring any imaging (MRI, X-ray reports), a medication list, and your insurance card. Arrive 10 minutes early to complete intake paperwork.

How many visits will I need?+

This depends on your diagnosis, severity, and goals. Most acute orthopedic conditions resolve in 6–12 visits. Post-surgical rehabilitation typically requires 12–20 visits over several months. After your evaluation we'll give you a clear, honest plan with an estimated timeline so you know what to expect.

Do you offer performance training and strength & conditioning?+

Yes. RX MOVEMENT is a physical therapy and performance clinic. We see rehab and performance training as one continuum, not two separate services, so when you're out of pain you keep progressing with the same team: strength & conditioning, sport-specific performance training, and 1-on-1 coaching. Performance training is self-pay and is not billed to insurance.

Billing & Insurance

Do you accept insurance?+

Yes. We work with most major insurance plans. We're in-network with select plans and verify your benefits before your first appointment. If we're out-of-network with your plan, payment is collected at the time of service and we provide a superbill you can submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement. We also accept workers' compensation and LOP patients.

What does cash-pay mean and how does pricing work?+

Cash-pay means you pay directly for your care at a flat rate per visit — no insurance involvement, no waiting on reimbursement. We offer straightforward pricing for evaluations, follow-up sessions, and specialty add-ons. Call us and we'll give you exact rates before you commit to anything.

Do you take workers' comp or LOP patients?+

Yes. We accept Florida workers' compensation claims under the state fee schedule. We also accept Letters of Protection for personal injury and auto accident patients with legal representation. We provide thorough clinical documentation for medico-legal purposes and respond to record requests promptly.

Can I use my PPO out-of-network benefits?+

Yes. If you have a PPO plan, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits. We provide a detailed superbill with all CPT and diagnosis codes so you can submit directly to your insurer. Call us and we'll walk you through exactly how it works.

Treatment

Do you offer dry needling and cupping?+

Yes. Dry needling and cupping therapy can be added to any standard visit or booked as part of a dedicated recovery session that combines both modalities. Call us for current rates — we'll match the right treatment to your goals.

What conditions do you treat?+

We treat a wide range of orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions: back and neck pain, knee injuries (ACL, meniscus, patellofemoral), shoulder conditions (rotator cuff, impingement, labral tears), hip pain, ankle and foot injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, sports injuries, and chronic pain. If you're unsure, call us — we're happy to discuss your situation.

Will I see the same therapist every visit?+

Yes — always. At RX MOVEMENT, you see the same clinician every single visit. This is intentional. Continuity of care means better outcomes, less time re-explaining your history, and a therapist who knows your progress as well as you do.
